PolyCloroTriFluoroEthylene (PCTFE) is a melt-processable homopolymer in which one fluorine atom of the PTFE structure is substituted by a chlorine atom. This atom replacement gives some advantages to PCTFE such as transparency, lower gas permeability, and higher mechanical strength to the detriment of a higher coefficient of friction over PTFE.
The amount of crystallinity of PTCFE may be controlled by its thermal history, especially the cooling speed during processing. High crystalline PCTFE is denser and has high mechanical strength and low elongation, whereas low crystalline PCTFE has a lower density, is more elastic, and optically clear. Our PB23000 materials meet the requirements of ASTM D1430.
